Piranha Parents:

I am pleased to announce the selection of the coaching staff for the Parklawn Piranhas for the 2009 summer swim season:

Head Coach: Trina Wood

Trina is a seasoned swim professional and coach, with 20 years of experience in the aquatic arena. She currently coaches Competition Swim Clinics and teaches a variety of swim classes at the Arlington YMCA. She previously served as Aquatic Director at the Alexandria Y.  Trina is pursuing her Masters Degree in Education.  She has 3 children, ages 10-14, who will be joining the Piranhas this summer.

Assistant Coach: Ryan David

Ryan is currently a Junior at George Mason University, where he swims for the Patriots, specializing in IM, back, and free.  He hails from Somerdale, NJ.  He coached summer swimming in NJ two years ago, and last year coached for the NVSL Poplar Heights swim team.

Assistant Coach: Lara Curtis

Lara may be familiar to the kids who cross the creek.  She's spent many summers at Dowden Terrace, as a swimmer and coaching the developmental program.  Lara is a Senior at William & Mary, where she swims, coaches and served on the Executive Board for the sWiM Club.  Lara's enthusiasm for swimming, and hard work as a club officer, paid off as they increased the number of swimmers in the club by a factor of 5.
